Most people that have used the Internet for a while and have a website will tell you that to get regular traffic quickly, pay per click is a tried and tested method. The reason for this is how superior it is against almost every other type of advertising. Pay per click is one of the most targeted types of marketing available which means it is extremely cost effective for businesses that often lose a great deal advertising to those with no interest in their product. This means that people browsing the site where your advert is placed are already interested in what it is you are offering.

There are a number of these pay per click programs available but it is Google who have captured the market with their AdWords system. The process is easy to understand; all you need to do is provide Google with the phrase or word that you want people to use to see your advert. When you see the results page on entering your search term, you may see the advert at the top of Google's results or on the right had column.

It is this immediate effect that appeals to many advocates of pay per click marketing. Whether the ad is going to be effective or not can be assessed very quickly with this method. This is still the most popular method of marketing because it works and most companies, large and small will use pay per click advertising as a standard method to market themselves.
